Mercy Hospital, Rockville Centre, NY “Lunch and Learn” Nurses and Student-Nurses learn about the importance of mole identification, necessity of being sun-safe and their role as health care professionals in alerting patients about skin cancer and melanoma prevention. Dr. Siegel is a nurse educator at Molloy College and she has written articles about the role of the nurse in skin cancer prevention.

May is National Skin Cancer/Melanoma Prevention Month Over 20 million New Yorker City taxi riders will have the opportunity to learn about mole identification and our app through taxi tv. Subway ridership, which is estimated at over 10 million a week will be educated through a poster campaign. The Long Island Rail Road, the biggest commuter railroad in North America, carrying over 300,000 each weekday will feature skin cancer awareness posters. Over two million Yankee fans will be reminded of the importance of sun safety through the NY Yankees Radio network.

The purpose of this meeting is to review the progress made in the science that is driving current melanoma awareness and to discuss potential for collaborative initiatives and to explore opportunities to optimize patient access to quality care.
